Welcome Home (Coheed and Cambria song)

"Welcome Home" is a song by progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria. It is the third track on the album, ''Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness''. The song was the first single on the album, and was made into a music video. The song tells of the hostility in The Writer and Miss Erica Court's relationship in ''The Amory Wars''. According to bandleader Claudio Sanchez, The Writer sees a vision of himself in a disfigured form with a black cloak, and Erica Court next to a grave, her hands tied with a rope, all during an intense thunderstorm. The Writer talks to Erica, angrily accusing her of betraying him, while Erica begs for mercy. The Writer concludes the conversation by telling Erica that she must die in order to end his suffering. He then proceeds to bury her alive before walking away.
The song is featured as a playable track in the game ''Rock Band'', as well as the soundtrack of the Xbox 360 version of ''Madden NFL 06''. It was also the official theme of the re-branded version of WWE NXT between June 2012 and February 2014 before NXT Arrival debuted on the WWE Network.
==Music video==
The music video opens with a red liquid resembling blood forming the band's symbol, the Keywork, during the opening acoustic guitar riff. As the other instruments kick in, the band is shown playing on a metallic silver stage, as pictures rise out of the ground around them. The pictures then begin to play scenes from the story-line. The video alternates between the story-line and the band's performance throughout the rest of the video. The video is nearly two minutes shorter than the album version of the song, due to the shortening of the intro and conclusion, along with the exclusion of part of the second verse and solo. "Fucking" was also partially censored, with the first syllable edited out. This is a result of the song receiving radio play, and Coheed and Cambria making the video to the radio edit rather than the album version.
